In 1983 Lorne N. MacLean, Q.C. founded MacLean Law. The firm has grown substantially to four offices across British Columbia. He is an experienced and highly rated lawyer concentrating on all aspects of family law and estate litigation.
Mr. MacLean received his Queen’s Counsel (Q.C.) in 2011. There are only a small number of lawyers each year designated as Q.C. An honour bestowed to recognize merit and contribution. Candidates must be a member of the BC bar for at least five years and demonstrate outstanding professional integrity and character. Queen’s Counsel recipients are acknowledged by their peers as leading counsel or exceptionally gifted practitioners. As a member of the Judicial Council of British Columbia he helps vet and approve candidates for judicial office and works to improve access to justice in British Columbia.
Mr MacLean has presented legal topics including wealth preservation and asset protection to various groups including 125 Freedom 55 Financial Planners. He has written papers on a variety of legal topics relating to British Columbia Estate Litigation, Wills Variation, Divorce and all areas of Family Law. A frequent guest on radio and television and a past guest lecturer at the UBC School of Law, Mr. MacLean has earned a reputation as a tough yet thoughtful advocate for his clients.
He has had the honour of making two appearances before the Supreme Court of Canada, resulting in establishing important legal principles. Mr. MacLean received his B.Sc. in 1979 from the University of British Columbia and his Juris Doctorate (JD) in 1982 from Osgoode Hall.
